Week after week, the Heisman Trophy race tightens, and this season is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in years. Players from all corners of college football are making strong cases, with standout performances that leave us debating who truly deserved the top honor. As we dive into the week’s Heisman update, two names are especially stirring the pot. Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty and Colorado’s Travis Hunter.
Ashton Jeanty: Back on Top!
As discussed in prior blogs, Ashton Jeanty has taken the college football world by storm. With a little setback in weeks 9 and 10, Jeanty is back on pace with how he was to start the season after his week 11 matchup with Nevada. Jeanty found the endzone three times rushing for 209 yards on 34 carries. In a season where consistency is essential, Jeanty has been able to do it the best. Not only does he have the numbers to back up his campaign, but he’s also bringing a fresh narrative to the Heisman discussion as a standout from Boise State, a school that doesn’t always get the national spotlight.
Jeanty has been able to almost single-handedly keep Boise State in the top 12, having spent most of their time unranked. With every game, he is proving that talent isn’t just confined to powerhouse programs or needing to be a quarterback. Watching Jeanty’s progress this season, it’s clear he has the grit and skill that Heisman voters look for—his odds of clinching are no longer a long shot.

Travis Hunter: The Two-Way Threat
Colorado’s Travis Hunter continues to impress as one of the most versatile athletes in college football. Playing both receiver and defensive back, Hunter is defying the odds and redefining what it means to be a Heisman contender. Hunter put up 99 yards on nine receptions with a touchdown to add too. Defensively, Hunter didn’t record statistics, but that isn’t bad when you consider the other team didn’t throw to who he was guarding all night. With these stats, he is proving to be a complete package, something rare even among previous top Heisman Candidates.
Hunters’ ability to impact the game from multiple positions makes him a unique presence in this race. Whether it’s interceptions or receptions for touchdowns, he brings an unmatched versatility that adds another dimension to his Heisman bid. His skill set could very well make him the first two-way player in recent memory to take the trophy home.

As we head deeper into the season, all eyes are on these athletes to see who will maintain momentum. Jeanty, Hunter and others know that every play, every yard, and every touchdown bring them closer or further from being the Heisman. This year is great as there is no clear front-runner, there is a case to be made for many people which is how we all hope it would every year.
